JOHN LLOYD CRUZ is currently attending the Berlin International Filmfest in Germany where the 8-hour, black and white movie he made for Director Lav Diaz, “Hele ng Hiwagang Hapis (Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery)", is an official entry in the main competition section, where multi-Oscar winner Meryl Streep is the head of the jury. Also attending the prestigious Berlinale with him are his co-stars, Piolo Pascual and Alessandra de Rossi.
Before he flew to Berlin, Lloydie allowed himself to be interviewed on TV Patrol and he was asked if he’s really now into a relationship with his perennial ka-love team, Bea Alonzo. “Hindi po,” he says. “Magkaibigan lang po kami.” So he really does not have a romantic relationship with Bea? “Wala po,” he insists.
What the interviewer forgot to ask him if it’s true that he has called it quits with Angelica Panganiban. This is something he cannot deny as Angelica herself has posted some messages in her social media account clearly indicating that they’ve indeed parted ways.
Lloydie also temporarily said goodbye to Jennylyn Mercado, with whom he’s currently shooting a rom com under the direction of Cathy Garcia Molina. “I’ve long been wanting to do a movie with her,” he says. “Noon pa dapat kami merong gagawin pero hindi natuloy. Finally, ito pala yung kapalit, so I’m very happy. I’m really excited to experience her talent.”
Lloydie plays an airline pilot in the story while Jen plays a ground crew attendant who wants to be a flight attendant. The story about airline personnel is something new and different in local cinema romances.
