MICHAEL V is so happy that GMA-7 chose him to be the host of “Lip Sync Battle Philippines”. “Nang una ko pa lang mapanood ang U.S. version nito hosted by LL Cool J, sabi ko, sana gawin din dito sa atin at ako ang host,” he says. “Heto nga nangyari na. Salamat talaga sa GMA at sa’kin nila ipinagkatiwala ang pagho-host ng local version.”
The show starts airing tonight after “Magpakailanman” as replacement of “Celebrity Bluff”. Each week, two celebrities who are close to each other will compete with musical numbers where they will lipsynch the hits of top performers. In the U.S., Channing Tatum impersonated Beyonce while competing with his own wife Jenna, and he won, with the show being a big hit.
In the show’s pilot tonight, the TomDen love team of “My Husband’s Lover” is back, with Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo trying to outshine each other. After they perform, the audience itself will determine who should win.
“I will also be acting as a judge here kung hindi makakapag-decide ang viewers,” says Michael. “Wala kaming cash prize dito but only a Lip Sync Champion Belt. Kasama ko si Iya Villania as the color commentator asking viewers how they feel about the performances they saw.”
Later on, he wants Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza to compete, since they’re already very good in doing Dubsmash on “Eat Bulaga”. He’s also aiming to invite Joey de Leon and Vic Sotto, Lovi Poe and Solenn Heussaff, Rhian Ramos and Glaiza de Castro, Ryan Agoncillo and Drew Arellano to be future contestants. “Mas maganda kasi kung magkabarkada or close friends or magka-love team ang maglalaban,” adds Michael. “Sina Dennis at Tom, talagang kinareer nila ang pagiging guests sa show. Gugulatin nila kayo sa husay ng performances nila.”
Aside from “Lip Sync Battle”, Michael V is also in two other hit shows: “Bubble Gang” on Friday and “Pepito Manaloto” on Sunday. With “Lip Sync Battle” shown on Saturday, Michael V can now rightfully be called the Weekend King.
