WE FEEL SAD for the young stars whose launching vehicles didn’t get the expected public support and flopped. First is the love team of Andre Paras and Yassi Pressman whose “Girlfriend for Hire” failed to make waves at the box office. We already wrote then that it’s premature for Viva Entertainment to launch them as they don’t have a solid fan base yet.
Prior to this, their other movie, “Wang Fam”, was also a big flop. And let’s face it, the biggest obstacle to this love team is the fact that Andre’s also current love team with Barbie Forteza on TV is definitely much more successful with the public, what with them having two hit shows like “The Half Sisters” and “That’s My Amboy”.
We’re also sad for Julia Barretto, daughter of Dennis Padilla and Marjorie Barretto, and Inigo Pascual, son of Piolo Pascual. Their afternoon TV drama, “And I Love You So”, didn’t succeed at the ratings and will soon be terminated. It started airing only last December and, after two months of dismal ratings and consistent failure to attract the interest of viewers, it’s now given its walking papers.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. We personally really like Julia Barretto. She’s not only good looking but can also act, but obviously she started on the wrong foot when she had that controversial rift with her father. She never recovered from that. As for Inigo, we also said it before and we’ll say it again, he’s not endowed with incandescent star quality like what his dad has.
ABS has given him all the support to help forward his showbiz career but he simply fails in comparison to the current crop of teen idols on ABS like James Reid, Daniel Padilla and Enrique Gil. This is unsolicited advice, but it will really be better for him to just focus on getting a good education. Also, the other young star with whom he and Julia form a love triangle in the show, Miles Ocampo, is a good actress but sadly, she doesn’t have the charisma of a lead star. We sympathize with all of them
