Janine Gutierrez Honored To Play 95-Year Old Kalinga Tattoo Artist Whang Od In 3rd Anniversary Special Of GMA News TV's 'Wagas'

JANINE GUTIERREZ is glad to be chosen to star in the two-part third special anniversary episode of GMA News TV’s love drama anthology, “Wagas”. She will play the role of real life Kalinga “mambabatok” or tattoo artist named Whang Od, who’s now 95 years old and for whom there is a campaign to be a National Artist as she’s the last one in their tribe. Her body is full of “batok” or tattoos, except for one part in her arm which she reserves for her one true love.

“I feel so honored to play the role of Whang Od,” says Janine. “Doing her life story is an eye-opening experience for me as I learned so much about the lives of our indigenous people living in the mountains. Panoorin nyo kasi very inspiring ang buhay at pag-ibig niya.”

“Ang Pag-ibig ni Whang Od” will be shown this Saturday, March 5, 7 PM, with Rocco Nacino as leading man Ang-Batang, the one great love of Whang Od who was ordered the marry her best friend (Stephanie Sol.) This special episode was shot on location in the Mountain Province. Janine also stars in the horror film, “Lila”, with Enchong Dee, directed by Gino Santos, an entry in the coming SinagMaynila Filmfest next month.

Meantime, Dingdong Dantes is back to acting in “Magpakailanman” playing the title role in the episode “Ang Kriminal na Binuhay ng Diyos”. He will be co-starring with Joko DIaz, Carmi Martin, Bettina Carlos, Rez Cortez, Rap Fernandez and Justin de Leon. And after the hit pilot episode of “Lip Sync Battle Philippines” last weekend with Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez, tonight, it’s going to be a battle between the love team of Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal.
