Janine Gutierrez Paired Anew With Aljur Abrenica In New GMA-7 Primetime Series, 'Once Again'

JANINE GUTIERREZ admits she auditioned for a role in the new version of “Encantadia” and she felt sad when she was not chosen to be a part of its cast. Those who were chosen as the four female leads are Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia and newcomer Sanya Lopez. But it turns out GMA-7 management has other plans for Janina as she will topbill her own primetime series with Aljur Abrenica. This will be titled “Once Again”.

The Kapuso bosses saw that they have very good chemistry when they were first paired in the morning show, ‘Dangwa’. The feedback on their team up is also very favorable, so now, they are moving up to primetime no less. This will be directed by Don Michael Perez and will start airing in May.

Janine’s BF, Elmo Magalona, who has moved to ABS-CBN, is now also taping his own new show, “Born for You” with Janella Salvador. Wonder what will happen if their respective shows will be scheduled to compete with each other.

Janine will also be seen in two new movies. First is the horror movie, “Lila”, an entry in Sinag Maynila Filmfest that airs later this month. She co-stars with Enchong Dee, directed by Gino Santos, and she plays a young woman running away from her troubled past and seeks shelter in an old house that turns out to be haunted.

The other movie is “Dagsin (Gravity)”, an entry in the Cinemalaya this August, directed by Atom Magadia. A love story set in the present and during World War II, Janine co-stars with her own mother, Lotlot de Leon, along with Tommy Abuel, Benjamin Alves, Alex Diaz, Marita Zobel and Sue Prado.
