JOHN PRATS is said to have already signed a contract with GMA-7 to formalize his transfer from being a Kapamilya to a Kapuso star, which is not surprising since his sister, Camille, is never without a project since she moved to GMA and now stars in “Wish I May” and “Mars”. But it’s said actor-director Edgar Mortiz advised John not to move anymore and he suddenly changed his mind.
Well, this is understandable. After all, he has a current regular show on ABS-CBN, “Banana Sundae”. And now, he’s also been cast in “Ang Probinsiyano” as SPO2 Jerome Geron, a cop who pursues riding-in-tandem criminals and is the ka-love triangle of Coco Martin with Maja Salvador. Why would he leave ABS-CBN when, in all fairness to them, they’re also taking good care of him?
As for GMA-7, if they’d pirate actors from other networks, they should try to get the younger ones, unless they’re getting John so he can also play father roles for them, like Camille does who’s now the mother of Bianca Umali in “Wish I May”. After all, John is now 32 years old and will be a real father soon as his wife, Isabel Oli, is due to deliver their first born, a baby girl, anytime now.
Some folks say that John is very happy that he is given the chance to work for the first time with Coco Martin. But it is not true that this is the first time they work together. When ABS-CBN first plucked Coco from the indie films circuit where he started, his first big project with the Kapamilya network is “Tiny Tony”, a fantaserye for Komiks Presents. John played the title role and Coco was the contravida. That was in 2008. Now, 8 years later, we all know Coco has become such a big star that he’s currently dubbed as the King of Primetime Teleserye. Ah, such is life in showbusiness!
