JOHN LLOYD CRUZ is the undisputed rom-com king of Star Cinema. You can pair him with anyone (whether it be Sarah Geronimo, Toni Gonzaga, Angel Locsin or his perennial partner Bea Alonzo) and the movie is guaranteed to be a blockbuster. He now gets a new ka-love team, Jennylyn Mercado, in “Just the 3 of Us”, directed by his resident director, Cathy Garcia Molina, who helmed a lot of his megahits before. This will open in theaters on Wednesday, April 27. Star Cinema seems so confident it will beat “Captain America: Civil War” at the box office that it was not promoted anymore in a presscon.
JLC plays Uno, a pilot, while Jennylyn plays CJ, a flight attendant. They have a one-night stand and this will change their lives forever. In the trailer, Jen tells JLC that she got pregnant as a result of their brief encounter. The situations are fresh and it’s a new combination of lead stars so “Just the 3 of Us” has the looks of being another big box office hit made the Star Cinema factory who has perfected the formula for this kind of crowd-pleasing movies.
