THE MEMBERS OF GMA Records’ new boy band, T.O.P. (Top One Project) swear they will stick to each other and not easily disband. “Three years po ang contract namin with GMA and siguro after that, pwede na kaming magsolo,” says Adrian Pascual, who’s tagged as the group’s Baby Boy as he’s the youngest at 17 years old.
The eldest members are Joshua Jacobe, who’s turning 23 on July 3 and already a masscomm graduate from Adamson University, and Miko Manguba, who just turned 22 last April 24. Joshua used to do on-the-job training at GMA and he was tapped to be the front act of Julie Anne San Jose in some of her mall shows. Among T.O.P. members, he’s the one who looks like a K-Pop star with his Chinito good looks.
The fourth of five kids, Miko started singing when he was only 4 years old and is now an Applied Corporate Management senior at La Salle Taft. The other two members are Mico Cruz, who’s 21, a marketing management junior at La Salle Taft, and Louie Pedroso, who’s 20 and is a college junior at UST. Both Mico and Louie are former members of the Kundirana during their high school days at La Salle Greenhills.
Adrian Pascual, from Obando, Bulacan, is said to have the most fans as he has “artistahin” looks. He admits he really wants to be an actor later on, although he sings like Michael Jackson. He has the most dramatic life story among his colleagues as his parents broke up when he was only two years old. His dad moved to Canada and it was only recently that he saw his dad again, now married to another woman and has a daughter. He also has a half-sister with his mom, who has a boyfriend. He now acts as his family’s breadwinner.
T.O.P.’s carrier single, “Paggising”, is now a much requested song radio. The other songs in their album are potential hits: “Bakit Ganon”, “Alaala”, “Kaya Ko Kaya Mo” and “Somebody”. Their album is now available on iTunes, Amazon, Deezer and in record bars nationwide.
