BETONG SUMAYA feels honored to be chosen as main co-host of the innovative game show, “Laff Camera Action”, where they will be discovering new comedians on GMA-7 starting this Saturday replacing “CelebriTV”. “I consider this as my biggest break as a host,” he says. “I host ‘Ang Pinaka’ sa GMA News TV and the promotional live shows we do here and abroad to promote GMA programs. I do comedy in ‘Bubble Gang’. Napasama rin ako sa rom-com na ‘Because of You’. Pero iba talaga itong mag-host ka ng isang bagong show like ‘Laff Camera Action’ where new comedians will do improvisations to show kung sino ang pinaka-effective sa kanila sa pagpapatawa. I’m really thankful sa GMA na pinagtiwalaan nila ako rito and I promise to give my best para hindi nila isiping nagkamali sa break na binigay nila sa akin.”
A masscom graduate from PUP, his full name is John Martin Sumaya Jr. and he turned 43 last November. He started working at GMA behind the scenes until he did on cam work for “Unang Hirit” and won “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles” in 2011. He’s aware of the rumors that he’s gay because he remains unmarried at his age, but he just shrugs it off. “Sa buhay, kailangan kung minsan magsakripisyo tayo. Pinili kong i-prioritize ang trabaho ko kasi breadwinner ako. Pangako ko kasi parents at mga kapatid ko na uunahin ko ang mga pangangailangan nila. Pero darating din naman ang time na iisipin ko rin ang sarili ko. Hindi ako nagmamadali. Basta sa ngayon, ang sariling pamilya ko muna ang inuuna ko.”
