In the movie, Maja plays Monette, a single mom who rises from her hardships and obstacles in life to become a self-made, successful career woman. She then meets Sen. Jinggoy Estrada who plays Paquito, a widower with three kids played Empress, his real life son Jolo Estrada who’s being introduced in the movie, and Maliksi Morales. Despite their age gap, Maja falls for Sen. Jinggoy but his kids are against her and her own son is against Jinggoy. Is there a chance for their love affair to prosper? “I had fun doing this movie with Sen. Jinggoy and Direk Joey Reyes,” says Maja. “Alagang-alaga ako sa shooting. Maraming magagandang values about love and life imparted in the movie kaya sana, panoorin ng mga tao.”
This feel good movie about families and the sacrifices of a devoted father will open in theaters on June 1 as a pre-Father’s Day presentation. “Tatay Kong Sexy” is written and directed by Joey Reyes, who has directed Sen. Jinggoy before in two acclaimed films, “Katas ng Saudi” (about a misunderstood OFW dad who returns from Saudi) in 2007 and “Magkaibigan” (about lasting friendship) in 2008 that gave the senator a couple of best actor awards.
His role in “Tatay Kong Sexy” as a strict dad seems tailor made for Sen. Jinggoy. In real life, he’s also very strict with his two sons, Jolo (for Joseph Luis) and Julian, who have both dabbled in showbiz. “Basta ang bilin ko sa kanila, tapusin muna nila ang college bago sila mag-full time sa showbiz,” he says. “Jolo is taking up entrepreneurship while Julian is majoring in marketing, pareho silang sa Enderun College in the Fort nag-aaral.”
But he’s even stricter with his two daughters. Janella just won as vice mayor in San Juan and he’s very happy about it. “I asked for special permission para lang makalabas ako at maiboto ko siya noong election day. Parang siya yung anak ko sa movie, si Empress Schuck, na sobrang pinaghihigpitan ko at ayokong maligawan pero boyfriend na pala si Dominic Roque in the story. Ang youngest ko, si Julienne, yan naman ang nakakapagpasaya sa akin kapag nalulungkot ako sa custodial center. Napakalaki ng pagsasalamat ko sa misis kong si Precy sa pag-aalaga sa kanila habang malayo ako sa’king pamilya.”
