So Which Earned More: Jadine's 'This Time' Or JLC-Jennylyn's 'Just The Three Of Us'?

AT SHARON CUNETA’S presscon, we were seated on the same table with the PR’s of the two movies that opened simultaneously last Wednesday, Ethel Ramos of “Just the Three of Us” and Salve Asis of “This Time”. But naturally, they both claimed that their respective movies were the topnotchers at the box office since it opened in theaters.

Ethel says “mas malakas kami kasi ‘Just the Three of Us’ raked in P17 million on opening day.” To which Salve replies: “‘This Time’ earned P15 million at sabi ng Viva, totoo yun, walang padding. This is the highest opening day of gross of James Reid and Nadine Lustre’s love team, more than doubling the earnings from their past movies. And this coming weekend, we expect ‘This Time’ to gross even higher, kasi Rated G ang movie for the entire family and Graded A kami ng Cinema Evaluation Board. Grade B lang yung sa kabila, kaya viewers are more assured of excellent quality with ‘This Time’. Tinalo ng JaDine ang lahat ng kalaban, pero mas malakas pa nga raw ang kita ng ‘Captain America: Civil War’ kaysa sa ‘Just the 3 of Us’.”

A writer in our table who refuses to be named joins the fray and quips: “E, tatlo lang daw ang nanood ng ‘Just the 3 of Us’ kasi sinunod nilang yung title ng movie.” To which Ethel replied: “E, sa JaDine, puro Cornetto Ice cream lang naman daw ang mapapanood diyan.” And Salve counters: “Sponsor nila JaDine yun kaya, natural, kasama yun sa movie.”

So which movie would you choose to watch now? We ourselves haven’t seen any of them as we chose to watch “Diyos-Diyosan” first, for fear it might be taken out of the theaters right away since it has no box office pull at all. Both John Prats and Princess Punzalan deliver great solid performances as a corrupt politician and his teacher who regrets teaching him the wrong values as a student. But we’ll reserve our other comments for the movie later.
