YASSI PRESSMAN is so happy that she was chosen to be the interpreter of the PhilPop 2016 song finalist, “Dumadagundong”, written by Mike Villegas and DJ Brian Cua. “First time ko pa lang narinig yung song, nagustuhan ko na agad,” she says. “Sabi ko, sana, akin na ito ibigay kasi sobrang perfect ng sound. It’s so new and tipong maghi-hit. So sobrang saya ko talaga nang sa akin nga na-assign yung kanta and I’m so proud to work with Mike and DJ Brian.”
“Dumadagundong” means “thundering” and it describes the feeling we have when we fall madly in love with someone who happens to no longer be available and is off limits. Yassi adds: “Maingay, magulo at talagang dumadagundong, hindi matahimik ang damdamin ng isang taong umiibig nang palihim at patago.”
She will be competing in PhilPop with her own sister, Issa Pressman (ex-GF of Derrick Monasterio), who belongs to the girl band Sugar & Spice that’s interpreting the song “Baliw sa Ex-Boyfriend Ko” by Joan Da.
And how is Yassi’s own love life? Is she still on with Andre Paras? “Ay, wala na kami, hiwalay na. Hiwalay na kasi magkaiba na ang projects na ginagawa namin ngayon. Hindi hiwalay as lovers dahil never naman naging kami. We became close, grabeng sobrang close, but ngayon hindi na kasi hindi na kami nagkikita. He’s with GMA-7 and I’m with TV5. I am shooting a new movie and he’s not a part of it.”
Yassi is in Viva’s “Camp Sawi”, which is about a center for ladies nursing a broken heart. She appears with Arci Munoz, Bela Padilla, Andi Eigenmann and Kim Molina. “We have just one leading man, pero hindi pa puedeng sabihin kung sino. Our director is Irene Villamor, who used to assist Direk Joyce Bernal. We’re supposed to shoot on location in a beautiful island in Cebu this June, for eight days straight.”
