ANGELINE QUINTO is so fortunate that Mother Lily and daughter Roselle Monteverde liked her so much after the Regal producers saw her rollicking performance as the lone leading lady in the gay comedy “That Thing Called Tanga Na”. The movie has just been completed and is yet to be shown, but Mother Lily and Roselle already got her again for a new project, the romantic comedy “Never Been Touched, Never Been Kissed”.
“Sobrang thankful ako sa Regal for giving me these great projects,” says Angeline, who doesn’t have any assignment right now from her own home studio, ABS-CBN. “In ‘That Thing’, ako lang ang ang babae at kasama ko sina Eric Quizon, Billy Crawford, Martin Escudero and Kean Cipriano who play gay roles, directed by Joel Lamangan. Nagustuhan daw nina Mother at Roselle ang style ng kikay comedy ko roon, so heto, may bago akong movie at leading man ko si Jake Cuenca. Kasama rin namin ang PBB discoveries na sina Miho Ishida at Tommy Esguerra, at si Joel Lamangan din uli ang director. Masyado yatang na-in love sa’kin si Direk Joel kaya lagi akong kinukuha sa mga pelikula niya.”
Regal used to be the foremost maker of stars known as the Regal Babies in the late 70s up to the early 90s. But now, they no longer have their own stable of stars so they are just borrowing actors from ABS-CBN, who is generous enough to lend them their stars who have no existing project as a Kapamilya.
“I would like to thank the current ABS-CBN president and CEO Mr. Carlo Katigbak for being so generous and lending their stars to Regal,” says Mother Lily. “Isang meeting lang namin with him, nagpahiram agad ng mga artista nila.”
Aside from Angeline, other idle Kapamilya stars lent to Regal are Enchong Dee and Kiray Celis (along with supporting players like Devon Seron, Michelle Vito, etc.) in “I Love You to Death”, which opens in theaters nationwide on July 6, and Alex Gonzaga and Joseph Marco in another rom-com, “My Rebound Girl”.
