JODI STA. MARIA turned 34 on June 16 and she celebrated it while promoting her new movie, “The Achy Breaky Hearts”, with Ian Veneracion and Richard Yap. Whoever thought of this love triangle project should be commended since Jodi’s partnership with both Ian and Richard has its own legion of fans. Jodi’s love team with Richard bloomed during their “Be Careful with My Heart” days and with Ian, while they’re doing “Pangako Sa Iyo”. Putting them all together in a love triangle movie is truly a brilliant idea. This early, there’s a Team Ian and a Team Richard rooting for both love teams. Wonder how they will resolve this in the movie and who’ll get Jodi in the end.
Did Jodi have any special wish for her birthday? “Actually, wala na for myself. The Lord has already blessed me so much para namang sobra na kung hihingi pa ako. If ever, siguro, good health na lang, not only for myself but also for my loved ones, especially my son Thirdy who’s now 8 years old.”
In the movie, she plays the role of Chinggay. “She’s also in her early 30s and still single, hoping to find Mr. Right kasi she has not lost her faith in love. Then she gets torn between her two suitors and that’s where the main conflict is.”
If she’d be made to choose, who’d she prefer: Ian or Richard? “Naku, buti na lang, hindi ko talaga ito problema sa totoong buhay. Alam naman nating in real life, they’re both happily married to their respective partners. I can see pareho silang good family men, devoted to their wives and children. Sa totoo lang, mahirap pumili sa kanila as they both have their own good qualities. Panoorin nyo na lang ang movie for you to find out which one will get my character in the end.”
Jodi won’t say if she’s loveless at the moment. There have been rumors that she has called it quits with Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla but she won’t deny or confirm it. “In due time siguro,” she says. With that kind of nebulous reply, it’s easy to conclude that they have indeed broken up since it’s so easy to say that they’re still on if their relationship were still truly intact. “Basta abangan nyo na lang ang ‘Achy Breaky Heart’,” she says. “Opening na on Wednesday, June 29, directed by Antoinette Jadaone. It’s a feel good romantic movie.”
