ANDI EIGENMANN’s last soap was “Dyesebel” two years ago, where she played villain to Anne Curtis as the iconic mermaid. It’s good she was cast in the award-winning Cannes Filmfest entry, “Ma Rosa”, otherwise, her output while she’s out of TV are flop flicks like “Your Place or Mine” and the ill-fated remake of “Angela Markado”. It’s good she is part of the cast of her mom Jaclyn Jose’s award-winning movie, “Ma Rosa”, where she gives a good performance in the role of the deglamorized daughter who’s not even made to wear makeup or comb her hair for the camera.
She admitted that she got depressed because of this. In an interview, she said: “I was on the verge of giving up na, thinking my time in showbiz was probably over and what audiences look for is different from what I can offer. I already embraced that and I told myself, it’s okay, I’ll just find something else to do.”
But the trip at the Cannes Filmfest buoyed her spirits. “Everyone there seems to appreciate me and like my work so nabuhayan ako ng loob,” she adds. “It was a wonderful feeling and a very positive experience, especially when my mom won as best actress. I was willing to take another chance and beging again.”
Well, it’s good she didn’t totally give up as she is now back on TV with a new soap, “The Greatest Love”. And she’s glad that she’s not playing a villain role this time but the caring and dutiful daughter of a mother who has Alzheimer’s disease. Also in the show’s cast are Dimples Romana, Sylvia Sanchez, Matt Evans and Arron Villaflor.
She’s also back on the big screen with a new movie, “Camp Sawi”, about broken hearted women. Her co-stars are Arci Munoz, Bela Padilla and Yassi Pressman, with Sam Milby and Dennis Trillo. About her lovelife, she seems quiet now after her tumultuous past relationships with Albie Casino and Jake Ejercito. She says she has moved on and is now dating a non-showbiz guy. She’d rather not reveal his identity so as to protect his privacy.
