GARY VALENCIANO is celebrating his 33rd year in showbiz and his 52nd birthday on August 6 with the fourth installment of his critically and commercially successful “Gary V Presents” series where he’ll be sharing center stage with some new but fabulously talented singers.
“Our country is blessed with plenty of good singers and I’m grateful to be the instrument to give them the chance to shine on July 15 and 16, 8 PM, at the Kia Theatre in Cubao,” he says. “I will be on stage from beginning to end to perform with all of them. The audience will be treated to various singers with different styles like pop, R&B, jazz, musical theatre and it’ll be an unforgettable evening of great music.”
11 exceptional artists will be with him: Allan Silonga who’s a finalist of “X Factor Philippines”, world music singer Bullet Dumas, top theatre actress Carla Guevarra- Laforteza, “The Voice Season 1” winner Mitoy Yonting, “The Voice” Season 1 finalists Janice Javier and RJ de la Fuente, Season 2 finalist Timmy Pavino, “Star in a Million” finalist Jimmy Marquez, Suklay Diva Katrina Velarde singer-songwriter Lara Maigue and Gary’s own daughter, award-winning recording artist Kiana Valenciano. The opening act is singer-songwriter Abby Asistio. Directed by Gary himself with son Paolo, the musical direction is by Mon Faustino.
In celebration of his 33rd anniversary, a special Gary V memorabilia exhibit is now going on at the Activity Center, Level 1 of Gateway Mall in Araneta Center. You have up to July 16 to catch it and see Gary’s colorful costumes, concert and movie posters, magazine covers, merchandising materials as Gary V mugs, t-shirts, plus never before seen photos that will instill a sense of pride to all Gary V fans who’ve followed his career through the years and orient new fans to how talented Gary is.
Gary is also embarking on a new stage in his life as a grandfather now that Samantha, wife of his eldest son Paolo, is expecting a baby girl to come in October. Gary will be the youngest looking grandfather and he’s excited about the coming first “apo” in their family. But he doesn’t want to be called “lolo”. “Before kasi, my own grandfather cannot understand Lolo so we call him Papi,” he explains. “So ako rin, I’d rather be called Papi”.
