“I can’t blame them kasi kahit naman po ako, nagulat din when I was told na nakuha ako,” she says. “Ako ang pinakabaguhan sa amin e. But I didn’t feel bad about it kasi I’ve always respected the opinion of other people. I chose to just consider it na lang as a challenge to motivate and inspire me para mas paghusayin ang trabaho ko, and prove to them na hindi ako mapapahiya sa mga taong nagtiwala sa akin at isinama ako sa big project na ito.”
Her real name is Shaira Lenn Roberto and one of the fast rising young actors today on GMA-7, Jak Roberto, is her elder brother. She’s turning 20 years old on August 19. It was the late Kuya Germs Moreno who discovered her and included her in “Walang Tulugan”. Then GMA-7 got her to play the role of Lorna, the best friend of Barbie Forteza in “The Half Sisters”. This is where she met Direk Mark Reyes, who now also directs her in “Encantadia”.
So how did “Encantadia” change her life? “Ayun, na-bash ako nang husto dahil wala raw akong K. May mga nagsabi pang Retoke Beauty raw ako. Malaki raw ang dibdib ko kasi pinaretoke ko, which is not true. May pictures pa silang nilabas na Before and After daw. Wala raw akong boobs dun sa Before tapos ngayon, malaki na. Yung pictures ko before, kuha pa noong sobrang mahiyain pa ako. Siempre, pa-demure. Hindi ko gustong i-expose masyado ang katawan ko, laging maluwang ang suot ko. E, ngayon, sa costumes namin in ‘Encantadia’, fit na fit ang suot namin, so mas malaki na tingnan. Nakalabas nga pati tiyan ko at ayan, totoo yung abs ko, ha, hindi drawing lang. Pero totoong nag-prepare ako for my role. Nagpapa-facial na ako ngayon regularly, body scrub, para maging makinis talaga ang skin ko kahit i-close up. Pati teeth ko, pinaayos ko para hindi ako mahiyang ngumiti on cam. Ha ha ha! Pero yun lang, everything else, original po yan.”
About her lovelife, she says she’s NBSB, or no boyfriend since birth. “At this point, parang impractical namang maging priority ko ang lovelife. Kasisimula ko pa lang. Ngayon pa lang ako nabigyan ng magandang break, so dapat lang na magseryoso muna ako sa career, di ba?”
