Julie Anne San Jose Launches New Album, 'Chasing The Light', With GMA Records. Carrier Single 'Naririnig Mo Ba' Is Now Topping The Charts

JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE’s new album under GMA Records, “Chasing the Light”, was officially launched last Wednesday but its carrier single, “Naririnig Mo Ba?”, which she herself composed, had been released digitally in June yet and has already topped the iTunes charts. Is the song meant for the guy currently being linked to her, Benjamin Alves?

“Naku, hindi po,” she says. “I wrote it for my friends and not for just one person. The song is about faith in love, the hope of falling in love again, and I'm sure anyone can relate to that.”

So what’s the real score between her and Benjamin? “We’re okay, we’re good. But we’re still in the process of getting to know each other better. I like him as a person pero dapat kilalanin mo munang mabuti, di ba? It’s important to have a good foundation. There’s no need to rush. He has many good qualities naman.”

Like what? “He’s nice. He’s attractive. Marespeto siya sa ibang tao, lalo na sa parents ko. He’s God-fearing and very understanding. If ever mapupunta kami in a relationship, we won’t hide it naman.”

But she has other plans, like now that she already has a degree in communication arts, she also wants to try teaching like her mom. “I really want to try experiencing being a teacher as it would be nice to share kung ano ang natutuhan ko. I hope I will be given the chance to do so.”

How is “Chasing the Light” different from her last album, “Forever”? “It’s definitely more mature. My albums before were more on ballads. The new album has several original songs na iba-iba ang genres. Two of them, I wrote the lyrics myself and I also collaborated with international rapper C Tru in one song.”

And this is what C Tru says about her: “As a Filipino-American with deep roots in the Philippines, it is an honor for me to collaborate with a talented local artist such as Julie Anne. It’s amazing to be able to connect the Filipino culture here in the U.S. with my kababayans back home through the universal language of music.”

As an advocate for OPM, Julie Anne is also proud to have collaborated with one of the most talented young composers in the local music industry today, Edmund Perlas. He has worked with Julie Anne before and feels thrilled to be working with her again. “This is all surreal to me. Never did I imagine that I would be writing songs for a big-name star like Julie Anne who I just used to watch on TV, and now, I am actually working with her. And I am very grateful that Julie Anne has inspired me to do what I’m most passionate about.”

“Chasing the Light” has ten songs: “Don’t Make Me Wait”, “Naririnig Mo Ba”, the title track “Chasing the Light”, “Not a Game”, “Never Alone”, “Take Me to Nirvana, “Left Over”, “All About You”, “Just Stay”, and the acoustic version of “Naririnig Mo Ba”. It is now available in selected Astroplus and AstroVision outlets nationwide, with its digital format available for download on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Google Play and other digital outlets worldwide.
