PIOLO PASCUAL acknowledges that being paired with Judy Ann Santos was a big help when he was starting his career. It was when he did with Juday such films as “Kahit Isang Saglit”, “Bakit Di Totohanin” and “Don’t Give Up on Us” that his career really took off. Movies he did with other partners like “Lagarista”, “Mila”, “Nine Mornings” and “Dreamboy” were not as successful.
“She’s really a big part of my career,” Piolo says when he and Juday were introduced as co-endorsers of Sun Life’s Money for Life campaign. “Napakalaki ng utang na loob ko kay Juday so I’m always just here for her. I’m glad to be with her for Sun Life and I’m hoping we’ll get to do another movie together soon. I even sent her a material through Direk Joyce Bernal at sana, magustuhan niya. I can see sa social media na marami pa ring nagre-request na magkasama kami uli. Ako naman, I’m just waiting for her availability, anytime she’s ready. Kailangan lang ng right timing para matuloy.”
Meantime, he’s all set to shoot a new movie that is a co-production between Regal Entertainment, Star Cinema and his own company, Spring Films, which produced the “Kimmy Dora” series before. Tentatively titled, “Once In a Lifetime”, it’ll be different kind of love story and he will be paired with lucky newcomer Yen Santos of PBB, to be directed by Dondon Santos. It will be shot on location in New Zealand, famous as the place where “Lord of the Rings” trilogy was shot. Piolo has done a movie before for Regal, “I Think I’m in Love”, with Joyce Jimenez.
Piolo has just returned from London where he took a short course in Christian Apologetics at Oxford University. “It took only a few days and I learned a lot about knowing more about your faith and how to defend it to non-believers. Ang sarap palang bumalik in school, sitting there in class and learning new things. Nag-enjoy ako.”
His ex-GF, KC Concepcion, has found a new love in Azkal player Aly Borromeo. And she’s very open about it, posting their photos together proudly on social media all the time, like their recent trip to Hongkong. What can he say about this? “I’m very happy for her. We’re friends and we exchange text messages. She deserves to be happy and I always pray for her happiness.”
