Since he moved to GMA four years ago, he’s been working non-stop in such shows as “Temptation of Wife”, “Maghihintay Pa Rin”, “Genesis”, “The Borrowed Wife”, and “Second Chances”, plus he’s also a guest in shows like “Magpakailanman”, “Wagas”, “Dangwa” and “Lip Sync Battle”. In other words, alagang-alaga siya as a Kapuso.
At the presscon of “Sinungaling Mong Puso” that starts airing on Monday, there were video interviews with the movie’s original actor (Gabby Concepcion) and director (Maryo de los Reyes.) Gabby says he approves of Rafael in playing his role than as Roman, the abusive husband of Ate Vi then. They’re friends as they played rivals over Carla Abellana in “Because of You”. Direk Maryo also endorsed the TV remake saying “Sinungaling Mong Puso” is one of his most acclaimed and memorable works ever.
Rafael says he knows the movie and its original stars are hard to top, but he promised that he and his own co-stars will do their very best to make sure they’ll give justice to their respective roles. Honestly, based on the trailer, Rhian Ramos, who inherits Ate Vi’s role, and Rafael have good on-screen chemistry together. At the presscon, Rafael was asked if it’s possible for him to fall for Rhian?
“Why not? It’s easy to fall for her as she’s so beautiful,” he says. “And when you get to know her better, the more you’ll appreciate her. She’s smart and you can talk with her about anything under the sun. Also, she’s simple. Unlike other women, she’s not fond of expensive things, like designer bags kaya naiiba siya. But I know she’s taken. May non-showbiz boyfriend siya and I respect that.”
And he, in turn, has a girlfriend? “None, wala akong girlfriend ngayon. I’m dating someone, non-showbiz din.”
Rafael’s last relationship was with the lovely model Olivia Medina who won in Century Superbods contest a few months ago. How did he feel about her winning? “I’m proud and happy for her. But we’ve lost touch after we broke up some months ago and I haven’t heard from her.”
