Sylvia considers herself so blessed as she was just in “Super D”, which is ending soon, and now, she’s quickly cast in “The Greatest Love”. “I really want to thank ABS-CBN for giving me this touching family drama na kakaiba sa lahat ng nagampanan ko na noon,” she says.
How would she explain that her career remains flourishing after all these years and she continues to get good assignments? “Mahal ko kasi ang trabaho ko. I always try to be professional at never ako naging pasaway. When it comes to my craft, open ako, gusto ko pang matuto. Also, I love and respect the people I work with, from my bosses to my co-stars and the crew, kaya dire-diretso ang blessings sa akin. Nagpapasalamat din ako kay Lord for all the blessings and to my late mom na siyang link ko sa langit.”
Her role as a mom suffering from Alzheimer’s disease is a very challenging one and the first actress who portrayed such a role in local showbiz was Gloria Romero, who won many best actress awards as the forgetful mom in “Tanging Yaman”. In “The Greatest Love”, Sylvia has four kids. Dimples Romana is Amanda, the eldest who has a love child, Joshua Garcia, who looks like a young John Lloyd Cruz. Then comes Matt Evans as Paeng, a gay make up artist; Arron Villaflor as Paeng, a musician; and Andi Eigenmann as Lizelle, the youngest child who takes good care of Sylvia when she gets sick.
Sylvia’s husband is Rommel Padilla, but it turns out that one of her kids is not sired by Rommel but by her one true love. In flashbacks, Sylvia’s past love affair will be shown with the young Gloria played by Ellen Adarna, who has an affair with Ejay Falcon, a boatman, before she was forced to marry the musician Junjun Quintana, who is later played by Rommel Padilla. Because of this secret, her happy family will be shattered and two of her kids, Dimples and Arron, will be very hostile and antagonistic to her.
The show is shot on location in Quirino, Isabela, helmed by Dado Lumibao and Mervyn Brondial. The new version of the official theme song, “The Greatest Love of All”, is especially recorded by Sharon Cuneta who congratulated Sylvia for bagging the coveted lead role.
