THE CONCERT ‘OH BOY’ stars four GMA Artist Center actors-singers and most writers who attended its presscon think that Derrick Monasterio is the one most likely to succeed and hit it big after Alden Richards, compared to his companions in the show. For one thing, he’s the youngest at 21 as Rocco Nacino is now 29 years old, Aljur Abrenica is 26 and Jake Vargas is 24.
He’s also the tallest at 6’1” and he can also act well. He is also a good host and he’ll once again be the host of a beauty pageant, Miss Global 2016, to be shown on GMA this coming September. His debut album is doing very well and he has a very good PR like Alden. He likewise has a build up contract with Regal and will have his own solo movie soon.
At the recent birthday party of Mother Lily, he impressed a lot of people with his rendition of “The Prayer”. Soon, he will have a new show on GMA-7, a sitcom called “Tsuperhero”, that will replace “Conan My Beautician” that is ending soon.
Will he be ready to show some skin in their “Oh Boy” concert on September 23 at Music Museum? “Basta kung ano ang ma-feel ko at that moment while I’m performing, I will do it,” he says. “If the audience would ask for it, they would get it. Kaya ko naman to do something naughty. I’ll make sure they will enjoy the show. But sana, ma-appreciate din nila yung singing ko.”
Derrick says he’s more of a balladeer and he’d be singing songs of his favorite singers, like Josh Groban and Martin Nievera. “Happy akong makasama sina Rocco, Aljur at Jake dito sa concert namin. GMA Artist Center assembled us and they’re training us to be total performers. Matagal na rin since we last performed sa ‘Sunday All Stars’ so we promise to give the audience a good time sa bagong career path namin as a boy band who’ll do singing and dancing. Sana, mag-hit ito nang husto, so we can go on tour, dito sa bansa natin and even abroad.”
“Oh Boy” will be directed by Marvini Caldito, with Soc Mina as musical director, produced by Dreamstar Events. The special guest is Julie Anne San Jose. Tickets are now available at all Ticketworld and Ticketnet outlets at P1,500, P2,000 and P2,500.
