JENNYLYN MERCADO looks so fresh and sexy at the presscon of “Superstar Duets” that starts airing tonight after “Magpakailanman”. Some writers say she’s blooming obviously because she’s now happy in the arms of Dennis Trillo. Jen is honest enough to admit that she took hosting workshops under writer-director Floy Quintos to prepare her for doing “Superstars Duets”.
“When they first offered it to me, siempre, kinakabahan ako kasi ngayon lang ako magho-host ng ganitong klase ng singing show and solo host pa ako,” she says. “Dati kasi, segment host lang ako in ‘Starstruck’. I now thank GMA for their trust in me to be able to handle this kind of show at malaking tulong ang workshop para maging comfortable ko in doing my job. It also helped in boosting my confidence na magagawa ko nang tama ang trabaho ko. Enjoy naman ako ngayon kasi masaya lahat ng mga kasama ko sa show, mostly comedians, so never a dull moment. Parang good break din ito from the usual heavy dramas na ginagawa ko. Nakaka-relax kasi it’s fun talking to the contestants, walang mga eksenang iyakan or sampalan kaya mas madaling gawin.”
She and Jessy Mendiola are both models of some products. Jessy is now linked to Luis Manzano who used to be her ex. Have they seen each other in these events and did they feel awkward? “Lagi kaming nagkikita sa events ng Avon at Tanduay and no, walang ilangang nagaganap. Bakit naman magkakaroon?”
Does she approve of Jessy for Luis? “I don’t think I have a right na magkomento ng kahit ano about them. Personal na nila yun at wala na akong kinalaman doon.”
The proposed new show for her, “My Love from the Star”, got stalled because they cannot find the right leading man for her after Alden Richards didn’t make it. How does she feel about it? “Okay lang naman kasi mahirap kapag pinilit. So it’s better to wait and just be patient. Naghahanap sila ngayon ng bagong leading man through auditions.”
What if it’s Dennis who’s paired with her? “Puede rin, but I don’t think that will happen kasi nagkasama lang kami recently sa ‘My Faithful Husband’, so mas okay siguro kung iba naman para fresh, new. Habang wala pa yun, dito muna ako magpo-focus sa ‘Superstar Duets’ na sure winner dahil Director Bert de Leon is making sure na entertaining from start to finish ang bawat episode nito.”
