“Area” is important for her as it’s also the first movie where she gets to act with her first born son, Sancho Vito de las Alas, who plays a pimp in the whorehouse where Ai Ai works. “Si Mama ang manager at handler ko,” says Sancho. “Talagang concerned siya sa acting ko. Sinasabi niya, anak, bawasan mo, kapag medyo OA ang atake ko.”
Is it true he took more after his dad, the late theatre actor Rey Malte Cruz? “Hindi naman. 50-50 sila, kasi sa mama ko naman ako lumabas, di ba? Mana ko sa kanilang dalawa. But I also want to try theatre acting like my dad, para mahasang mabuti ang craft ko sa an actor.”
“Area” is rated R-18, without cuts, with all the controversial nudity and pumping scenes to be shown intact. It will open in theaters on November 9. Ai Ai left for the airport last Wednesday right after the presscon of “Area”. She will have two shows in Texas, at Dallas on October 29 and at San Antonio (where the Alamo is located) on October 30. Then she’ll go to visit her two other kids in California, Nicolo and Sophia. She’ll be back in Manila before November 9 for the showing of “Area” then, on November 11, her birthday, she’ll be receiving the Papal Award from Bishop Antonio Tobias at the cathedral in Novaliches.
