ALLEN DIZON has been seen in three local films this year that are all part of various local film festivals: “EDSA” where he plays a kind cab driver, “Lando & Bugoy” where he plays an illiterate tombstone maker and “Iadya Mo Kami” where he plays an erring priest who sires his own child and for which he won two best actor awards in international film festivals held in Ireland and Italy.
He is now in the cast of two new films to be shown one after another. Opening on November 9 is BG Productions’ acclaimed film on prostitution, “Area”, where he co-stars with Ai Ai de las Alas. Then, on November 14, his entry with Cinema One Originals Filmfest opens in theaters, “Malinac Ya Labi (Silent Night)” where his leading lady is Angeline Quinto.
“I really feel blessed to be getting good projects na puede kong ipagmalaki,” he says. “‘Area’ won the Special Jury Prize at 12th Eurasian International Filmfest in Kazakhstan and was given a Grade A ng Cinema Evaluation Board. Sobrang proud ako to be part of this movie which is very bold and daring in its portrayal of the life of hookers na may sex scenes at full frontal nudity pa.”
How is it working with Comedy Concert Queen Ai Ai de las Alas? “It’s a great experience kasi napaka-professional niya. Nagkasama na kami before sa isang movie pero sandali lang. Dito, marami kaming eksena at sobrang deglamorized siya rito at ipinakitang nakikipag-sex siya sa iba’t ibang lalaki, may matanda, may siamese twins pa, but she gamely did all of her delicate scenes. Hindi siya comedian dito but dramatic actress. May kissing scene din kami rito. Kasi may eksenang nag-break down siya after manakaw ang lifetime savings niya, then nang tutulungan ko siya, yung halo-halong emotions niya, frustration niya, sumabog at bigla niya akong hinalikan sa lips. I won’t be surprised if she’d win acting awards later for her role here. I’m proud to be given the chance to work with her in a drama like this. Natutuwa rin akong makatrabaho si Direk Louie Ignacio kasi maganda ang resulta ng movie namin. He’s very cool on the set, but yung story, yung content, yung execution niya, I’m sure maa-appreciate ito ng lahat ng viewers who want to watch a good and meaningful film about reality and the human condition. Maganda yung role as the owner and manager of the kasa or whorehouse where Ai Ai works. Guilt ridden ako rito kaya nagpepenitencia ako tuwing Holy Week. Pinahiwa ko talaga ng blade yung likod ko para maramdaman ko talaga ang eksena.”
Allen is a true blue Kapampangan but he now appears in a movie filmed using the Pangasinan dialect, “Malinac Ya Labi”. “Soldier naman ang role ko rito na assigned sa Pangasinan. May asawa na ako pero nililigawa ko pa rin si Angeline Quinto na isang teacher. Nagkaroon ng big conflict sa movie nang may matuklasang bangkay ng batang ibinaon sa lupa. First directorial job naman ito ni Abdel Langit na siyang assistant director namin in ‘Area’.”
