How will her diehard bossa nova fans accept it? “This is naman not a career change. I just want to do some reinvention and introduce myself to the younger market of listeners today. But of course, I will always be loyal to my roots. It was 10 years ago when my album, ‘Cafe Bossa’, was launched and it became double platinum selling 60,000 units and spawning hit singles like ‘Para sa Akin’, ‘I Didn’t Know I was Looking for Love’ and ‘Tattooed on My Mind’. Dahil diyan, I was able to try acting on TV in teleseryes and I also did musical plays like ‘Spring Awakening’ and ‘Katy the Musical’.”
How did she foray into electronic music? “I was brainstorming with friends for my birthday show and they suggested we create something new and I agreed it would be nice, for a change, to experiment. Silver Filter, the husband of our wedding stylist, suggested to try electronic music, then my recording company, MCA, suggested let’s do an electronic album, so sakto siya. I think people are open naman when you do something out of the box. I will launch muna my first electro single, ‘I Bid You Love’, then come up with a full album by next year.”Sitti is now married to businessman Joey Ramirez. “Sa birthday ko, bale one year and six months na kami and so far, so good. Masarap maging married. I didn’t expect to be as happy as I am now. My husband is an Ilonggo so his most endearing quality is that he’s very malambing, not only in the way he talks but the way he touches me.”
Will he have a participation in his concert? “Naku, wala. She’s now managed by Boy Abunda’s Asian Artists Agency, which is global. What are their plans for her? “By next year, we hope to launch an album in Indonesia and also in Singapore. Sana nga, matuloy.”
