Director Jun Lana Says 'Die Beautiful' A Big Hit With Foreign Audiences In Tokyo & Toronto So He's Confident It Will Also Be A Hit With Pinoys

DIRECTOR JUN LANA made “Die Beautiful” without knowing the film will make it as an official entry in the coming Metro-Manila Filmfest. “Sobra akong na-excite kasi nakasali na ang movie ko sa festival before, like last year’s ‘Haunted Mansion’, but hindi ako ganun ka-involved sa promo noon,” he says. “Blockbuster yun, making P150 million. Ang kaibhan, ‘Die Beautiful’ is produced by our own company ni Perci Intalan, Octobertrain Films and IdeaFirst Company, so kasama ko sa lahat ng aspeto nito, pati sa promo. Kasama ko sa palengke tour, mall tour, sa launch ng filmfest entries sa Skydome. Ang saya. Nakakapagod pero nage-enjoy ako.”

What does he feel about some predictions that this year’s filmfest will not be as successful as the past ones? “Siempre, just like yung ibang nakapasok, kinakabahan kaming lahat. Ang pamantayan kasi this year is yung quality, yung galing, yung ganda ng movie and I’m for all that. Sana suportahan at pasukin ng mga tao. Naniniwala akong may audience naman na naghahanap din ng mga


magagandang pelikula at hindi yung puro pambata lang. ‘Die Beautiful’ is very entertaining. We made the movie for local viewers, pero tumatawa ang audience kahit sa Japan at sa Toronto. Nanalo pa ng audience award sa Tokyo International Filmfest. Sa totoo lang, hindi ako umasang mapipili kami para sa Metro filmfest, but I now feel so blessed na isa kami sa walong pelikulang magbubukas sa mga sinehan sa darating na Kapaskuhan and all I ask is give us a chance.”
