“Actually, nandito na siya,” she says when we visited her on the final taping day of “Someone to Watch Over Me”.
So what’s the real status of their relationship? “Wala pang official status. We’re just enjoying each other’s companionship. I don’t believe in courtship where you put your best foot forward, so we’re just showing our true colors to each other. No pretensions. Even my mom and my sister like him. We get along fine. We’re leaving for Thailand with other friends after Christmas. We’ll go island hopping.”
How does she feel now that “Someone to Watch Over Me” will end on January 6? “I’m gonna miss everybody. I love this show kahit sobrang mahirap siyang gawin kasi physically and emotionally draining. Every episode, umiiyak ako as Joanna, the wife who has to make a lot of sacrifices for her ailing husband. But it’s very fulfilling, kahit kung minsan, nadadala ko yung lungkot ng character ko sa bahay. Na-attached ako sa kanya kasi she’s fighting for a love that is not reciprocated by her husband who has totally forgotten her. It’s good Tom Rodriguez and I have good teamwork. He’s very giving and that makes my job easier.”
What does she do so she won’t run out of tears when she faces the camera for a heavy dramatic scene? “I drink a lot of water para di ako maubusan ng luha. Pero madali na rin once I’m in character kasi this is the most painful role I’ve ever played so far. This will be hard to top and I’m thankful this role was given to me.”
What’s next for her in 2017? “I’m looking forward to a new TV series. Pinag-uusapan na raw but I don’t know the details yet. Mukhang mas maganda ang 2017 kasi everything is moving forward for me. I’ve also moved to a new house.”
Does she have a new year’s wish or resolution? “My wish is for people to have kindness in everyone’s heart, less greed. Ayoko ng mag-resolution kasi hindi ko naman natutupad, but my plan is to eat less snacks, sweets and junk food kasi sobrang lakas kong kumain niyan.”
We tell her she need not worry since she seems to have a very strong metabolism and she doesn’t get fat at all.
