The first time we saw Phoebe was at the TV5 presscon of the local version of “Amazing Race Season 2” in 2014, where she won with her former boyfriend, Matt Edwards. They were tagged then as the Dating Couple. We quickly noticed even then that she’s a deadringer for Cristine Reyes.
Managed by Viva, she then played bit roles in movies like “Trophy Wife” and “Etiquette for Mistresses”, and also got to play a meaty role in the QCinema indie entry, “Gayuma”, where she played a model who had sizzling scenes with a painter, Benjamin Alves. That movie came and went without too many people seeing it.
She says doing “Seklusyon” with Direk Erik Matti is a big blessing for her. “I saw kasi his past works, like ‘On the Job’ and ‘Honor Thy Father’ and I really like them,” she says. “Sabi ko sa sarili ko, kailan kaya ako maididirek ng isang Erik Matti? Tapos, heto nakatrabaho ko na nga siya.”
So how was it? “It was fun. Nag-workshop muna kami and I was very nervous kasi sabi niya agad, ‘I expect a lot from my actors. I demand a lot!’ And I felt that I really have a lot to prove to him, acting-wise kasi ang dami na niyang magaling na artistang nakatrabaho before. But with his help, I think nagampanan ko naman nang maayos ang role ko, including the nude scene na pinagawa niya sa akin.”Direk Erik Matti says he’s very pleased with Phoebe as Sister Maria Cecilia. “Markado yung role at ang lakas ng dating ni Phoebe on screen kaya tiyak na matatandaan siya ng mga manonood dito,” he adds.
