Gloria Romero Shines As The Millennial Grandma, Lola Madonna, In Hit GMA Primetime Show, 'Meant To Be'

GLORIA ROMERO remains to be an icon at 83 and is still a busy working actress who does one show after another, like “Nino”, “The Rich Man’s Daughter”, “The Half Sisters”, “Juan Happy Love Story” and now, she plays one of the many colorful characters in the hit GMA Telebabad show, “Meant to Be”. She is the Millennial Lola who’s the grandma of Jak Roberto as Andoy. Her outfit is always pam-bagets, complete with a headset while she listens to the latest contemporary music to which she dances to. She’s also tech savvy, is into social media, knows how to take selfies and definitely always young at heart.

“I’m really enjoying my role as Lola Madonna or Madj for short,” says Tita Glo. “She’s so full of life. Unlike other senior citizens who have lost their zest for life, siya, talagang very active pa and is into a lot of things. How I’d wish all seniors will be like her. Enjoy rin ako working with the young stars in the show, like Barbie Forteza who is always full of energy kaya masarap katrabaho.”

Barbie has four leading men in the show: Ken Chan, Ivan Dorschner, Jay Patel and Jak Roberto. At one point, Lola Madj suspects that Barbie is having an affair with all of them so it’s explained to her that she is just the boys’ girl friday. Which one does she personally prefer for Barbie to end up with?
“Lahat naman sila, may kanya-kanyang good qualities. Lahat, good looking, mababait din, so it’s okay for Barbie to end up with anyone of them. I think the writers of the show will have a hard time kung paano nila tatapusin ang story kasi, ngayon pa lang, each guy, may kanya-kanyang cheering squad saying na ang manok nila ang mas bagay for Barbie. But you can see na kahit sino naman ang ipartner kay Barbie, may kilig, e. Ako rin, may nakikita kong bagay talaga kay Barbie, but siempre, I won’t reveal it kasi baka ma-bash pa ako ng fans ng ibang guys. Kaya, sa akin na lang yun. Secret!”

This week in “Meant to Be”, Barbie as Billie gets closer to Ivan as Ethan when she finds out he does charity work by feeding indigent children in his soup kitchen for free. But it turns out Ivan already has a girlfriend and he fetches the girl at the airport.
