Jak Roberto Determined To Prove He's A Good Actor And Not Just Someone Who Keeps On Removing His Shirt On TV To Show His Pambansang Abs

JAK ROBERTO’s time has come. After being one of the nameless performers in the late Kuya Germs’ midnight show, “Walang Tulugan”, he’s finally given leading man status on primetime in GMA’s new show, “Meant to Be”. Jak used to be part of the trio, Threelogy, with Jeric Gonzales and Abel Estanislao, which has been disbanded after Abel left GMA Artist Center. His breakout role is in “Dear Uge”, where he is often shown shirtless to display his chiselled torso, which he also does in ‘Bubble Gang’. This earned him the title Pambansang Abs because of his very pronounced abdominal muscles.

“Marami na rin akong ginawang shows before that, doing supporting roles, like ‘Cielo de Angelina’, ‘Half Sisters’, ‘With a Smile’, ‘Ilustrado’, ‘Hanggang Makita Kang Muli’, ‘Usapang Real Love’, pero sa ‘Dear Uge’ talaga ako unang napansin nang husto,” he says. ‘At ngayon, grateful akong mabigyan ng lead role on primetime in ‘Meant to Be’. When I was first informed about it, hindi agad nag-sink in sa akin. But now, feeling ko, nasa cloud nine ako sa sobrang saya ko for this opportunity. At least, may acting akong maipapakita at hindi puro pagtatanggal lang ng shirt ko sa harap ng kamera.”

Being assigned a lead role has multiplied his followers in his social media accounts. “Biglang naging 141,000 sa Instagram at 20,000 sa Twitter ang followers ko. Pero siempre, dumami rin ang bashers. I guess normal naman yun. I understand them. Sana, panoorin na lang nila ang ‘Meant to Be’ starting this Monday night sa GMA-7.”
