Therese Malvar, Winner Of An International Best Actress Award At 16, Plays The Title Role Of The Scary Evil Water Nymph In 'Ilawod'

THERESE MALVAR is getting great feedback for her effective portrayal of the title role in “Ilawod”, the first horror movie directed by rom-com director Dan Villegas. Therese is only 16 years old but she already has two best actress trophies to her credit, one for her portrayal of a young lesbian in “Huling Chacha ni Anita” and the other one is an international honor at that, as best actress in the prestigious Moscow International Filmfest for her role as a juvenile delinquent who poisons all the members of a family that took her under their wing in “Hamog”.

In “Ilawod”, she has to do a seduction scene with Harvey Bautista in her role as the badass water nymph called Isla. “Mahirap yun for me kasi I’ve never done anything like that in real life,” she says. “Hinaplos-haplos ko sa leeg si Harvey para akitin siya, e hindi ako talaga touchy, sa totoo lang. Hinalikan ko pa siya tapos, may shower scene kami. Salamat na lang at tinuruan ako ni DIrek Dan Villegas kung ano ang dapat kong gawin. Dapat daw, malakas ang dating ni Isla, very self confident sa paglakad at sa bawat galaw. Very challenging kasi kahit 16 na ako, child star pa rin ang dating sa’kin ng mga tao. E, si Isla, parang dalaga na ang dating.”


How is it doing a horror movie? “Medyo natatakot ako nung sinu-shoot namin. Pero mukhang effective naman ang pananakot namin kasi noong premiere night, grabe ang sigawan ng mga tao. Ako mismo, napasigaw at one point. Ang nakakatawa, ako mismo ang dumaraan sa screen noong mapasigaw ako. Effective talaga, dumaraan lang ako sa screen, tilian na ang viewers na parang kinikilabutan talaga sila sa akin.”
