Diana Zubiri And Cong. Alfred Vargas Get Warm Reception In Their Appearance As Lilasari And Amarro In 'Encantadia'

DIANA ZUBIRI and QC 5th District Cong. Alfred Vargas were paired in the movies before, like “Bikini Open” and “I Wanna Be Happy”, and in the original “Encantadia”. They’re now together again on the small screen in the new version of “Encantadia” and audience reaction is very positive about their reunion even if they’re now both married with kids, Diana to Andrew Smith and Alfred to Yasmine Espiritu.

In “Encantadia”, Diana appears as Lilasari and Alfred is Amarro. “Dapat, guest lang yung appearance ko rito,” says Alfred. “Pero ang ganda ng feedback, lalo nang pagsamahin kami ni Diana at may mga kinikilig pa rin daw sa tambalan namin. Very well received by the audience, so extended ang roles namin.”

How does it feel like being a part of the new “Encantadia”? “Nakakatuwa. Si Direk Mark Reyes ang director before and siya rin ang nagdidirek ngayon, so at home kami. Pero siempre, nakaka-miss yung mga dati naming kasama, like Karylle and Iza Calzado na lumipat na ng network.”

Do they still do action scenes like they did before? “Oh yes,” says Diana. “Pero mas madali nang gawin ang fight scenes ngayon. Dati kasi, naka-harness pa kami. Now, mas advanced na special effects so hindi na kami masyadong hirap. Before, sa actual na bundok kami nagte-taping. Malayo, mahirap puntahan, maputik. Now, everything, sa studio na lang so mas comfortable.”

For Diana, there’s an added bonus for the show. Direk Mark Reyes got her husband Andrew Smith to be part of the show. He plays Anthony, earlier played as a teenager by Migo Adecer. Andrew and Migo, by coincidence, have something in common. They both grew up in Australia but are now based here in Manila to pursue showbiz careers.
