GERALD ANDERSON, who turned 28 years old on March 7, left last Monday to be the country’s representative at the Los Angeles Marathon that will take place on March 17. Before this, he competed in his first Ironman competition in Subic last weekend. His team was initially ranked number one overall for the men's relay category, but they were later disqualified.
This is because he was stopped by a marshal during the bicycle course for drafting violation but he didn’t go to the penalty tent to serve his punishment. Gerald says he didn’t know he’s supposed to do that, resulting in their disqualification even if they finished first. How sad. Well, here’s hoping he will fare better in Los Angeles.
Gerald is playing a triathlete in his coming series on ABS-CBN, “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin”, which reunites him with former girlfriend, Kim Chiu. He says the experience in the Ironman competition will help him interpret his role better. He adds that he will join again in the next Ironman race and promises to do better.
About his stint in the L.A. Marathon, he says he’s quite nervous. “Nakakakaba but I’m very much motivated and inspired,” he says. “I really prepared and worked hard for this.”
Before he left, he also finished an episode in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” where he’s paired with Kim anew. This will be a test case to see if their erstwhile Kimerald love team still has enough pulling power for the viewers, before their teleserye, “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin”, will be aired later this year. They were last seen together in the movie in “24/7 in Love” which was shown in 2012, or exactly five years ago.
Since then, Gerald has been linked to Maja Salvador and, now, to Bea Alonzo, but they have yet to admit their relationship in public.
