RAYMOND ‘RS’ FRANCISCO hosted a thanksgiving dinner for the press after he won best actor in the SinagMaynila Filmfest for his title role performance in “Bhoy Intsik”. The footage showing him accepting his trophy at the awards night was shown and he really cried tears of joy as this his very first acting award.
He thanked his director, Joel Lamangan, and all his co-stars, including Ronwaldo Martin, Jim Pebanco, Tony Mabesa, Jeric Raval, Elora Espano, Shyr Valdez, Mike Lloren and Mon Confiado. The film is now being considered in film festivals abroad but he cannot reveal yet the names of these filmfests until they have the go signal. They have plans of having a wider theatrical release for “Bhoy Intsik” later.
“Kasi maraming nagre-request na mapanood ito unlike now na limited release lang. The awards we got and the good reviews generated a lot of public interest, but gusto muna naming makita ang reception ng festival viewers sa abroad before we release it in theaters nationwide,” he says.
Direk Joel is now preparing their second movie together, "Angelo Lumunsod", about a stranger who arrives in a remote town in Masbate and changes the lives of the people there. Like “Bhoy Intsik”, this is once again based on a story by Direk Joel himself, this time to be scripted by Christopher Brugada who did the movie “Patikul” for him.
