Tuko, Buchi Boy & Artikulo Uno Films Bare Their Lineup Of Coming Movies: 'Smaller And Smaller Circles', 'Iisa', 'Birdshot', 'Bliss' & 'Goyo'

IF YOU’D watch “I’m Drunk, I Love You”, the trailers of the coming movies of its producers, TBA (Tuko, Buchi Boy and Artikulo Uno Films) are shown, along with a 20-minute short film. The trailers include “Smaller and Smaller Circles” (a whodunit based on the acclaimed novel of FH Batacan about two Jesuit priests, Noni Buencamino and Sid Lucero, tracking down a serial killer), “Iisa” (a drama about Yolanda victims starring Angeli Bayani and Rio Locsin), “Birdshot” (directed by Mikhail Red, it won the best Asian future film award at the Tokyo Filmfest) and “Bliss” (a drama-thriller written and directed by Jerold Tarog starring Iza Calzado, TJ Trinidad and Ian Veneracion which will compete at the Osaka Filmfest this March 3 to 12.)

The short film shown before the main feature is “Angelito”. It runs for about 20 minutes and is written and directed by Jerrold Tarog, the young filmmaker who earlier gave us the acclaimed hit, “Heneral Luna”. It’s apparently some sort of a prologue for his new movie, the biopic of Gen. Gregorio del Pilar.

We first meet Carlo Aquino (looking so handsome in his rebolusyonaryo uniform) asking a photographer (Jojit Lorenzo) to join him to take pictures at the war front in the uprising against the American aggressors. We then meet other characters who we’ve seen before in “Heneral Luna”.

First is Joven Fernando (Arron Villaflor), the young journalist who was interviewing John Arcilla as Hen. Luna, then the two rebolusyonaryo brothers allied with Luna, Manuel and Jose Bernal (Art Acuna and Alex Medina), who are now being hunted by the men of Gen. Goyo del Pilar.

The title role of Angelito is played by Tomas Santos, a boy who is arrested by the soldiers of Goyo. Why Goyo has done this to a little boy is something we should watch out for in the full length film on Hen. del Pilar. We could see that producers Artikulo Uno have already spent so much for the topnotch production values of this short film, and we can’t wait what more they will do in the coming full length film on Goyo del Pilar.
