SOFIA ANDRES’ career is on a roll. She has a new TV show, “Pusong Ligaw”, and a new movie, “Our Mighty Yaya”, even if both projects got delayed in their showing. “There was a time I was wondering kung matutuloy pa bang ipalabas ang ‘Pusong Ligaw’ namin ni Diego (Loyzaga),” she says. “We’re asking, ano na ba nangyari? But we’re glad, finally showing na kami. Gayundin ang ‘Our Mighty Yaya’ na akala ko, entry sa last Metro filmfest, pero naging Mother’s Day presentation this coming May 10, which I think is a better playdate. I’m so thankful kasi binabasa ko yung comments sa social media ng mga nakapanood sa both trailers ng ‘Pusong Ligaw’ and ‘Our Mighty Yaya’ and they’re all very positive. Sana parehong panoorin ng mga tao para maging hit sa ratings ang ‘Pusong Ligaw’ at maging hit din sa takilya ang ‘Our Mighty Yaya’.”
In “Pusong Ligaw”, she plays Vida, who was abducted as a baby from her real mom, Beauty Gonzales, and raised by Bianca King. “My dream as Vida is to be a fashion designer, pero gusto naman ng kinagisnan kong mom, maging sikat akong super model. So nag-away kami, nagrebelde ako, lumayas at namuhay mag-isa. Doon ko nakilala si Diego who plays Potpot at nagkatulungan kami in our efforts to achieve our dreams.”
Their love team is called Sofiego and the fans of other ABS-CBN love teams are bashing them in social media for competing with the more established Kapamilya tandems. What can she say about this? “Wala, dedma lang. Ayoko namang pumatol sa mga negative. Siempre, nagsisimula pa lang kami, ganun talaga sa showbiz. Pero sana, panoorin muna nila ang ‘Pusong Ligaw’ bago nila kami husgahan.”
So what’s the real score between her and Diego? “We’re okay, we’re very close. Pareho kaming naka-focused nang husto in making our show a success. We don’t want to waste the opportunity and trust that ABS gave us. Matagal namin itong hinintay. Ang dami naming challenges na pinagdaanan. So bakit namin sasayangin, di ba? Basta nagtutulungan kami and it’s nice to have that feeling na may ganung tao sa buhay mo na you really support each other.”
And how is it working with Ai Ai de las Alas in “Our Mighty Yaya”? “Naku, sobrang nag-enjoy ako. I’m not really that good in doing comedy but just watching her, para ka nang nag-workshop on how to do comic scenes, pati yung right comic timing. This is a feel good movie for the whole family and I’m really so happy to be a part of it.”
