JILLIAN WARD is in her tween years at 12 but unlike other child stars in their awkward transition years from childhood to teenage years, she’s not temporarily retiring but continues to work. She just appeared in the long running soap, “Sa Piling ni Nanay”, and now she’s in Gloria Romero’s fantasy show, “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko”. To what would she attribute her being continuously busy?
“Siempre, unang-una thank you kay Lord for these blessings, then sa GMA-7 kasi patuloy silang nagtitiwala sa akin at hindi ako nawawalan ng project,” she says.
What’s her role in “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko”? “I play Alice, eldest grandchild of Lola Goreng, played by Tita Gloria Romero. She’s a fairy and fairy rin kami ng brother ko rito, si David Remo as Elvis. I have a special power that helps protect the environment. I take care of plants, trees and flowers. Si David naman is the protector of animals.”
If she’d be given a special power in real life? “Siguro po, yung puede akong maging invisible. So I can move around nang hindi nakikita ninuman.”
Although she’s busy with work, she has not neglected her studies as she’s now in grade 6 at Westfields International School. “For me, importante po yung pag-aaral. I really want to finish my studies. Mostly, home school po ako. They give me my lessons and give me a test later.”
Jillian is also a good singer and she sang the title song of “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” live for the press when the show had its presscon. How is it working with a veteran icon like Gloria Romero? “Napakabait po niya. Lagi siyang nagkukuwento sa amin ng mga kasamahan kong child stars so we learn a lot from her past experiences in showbiz. Matiyaga po siya sa amin at hindi nagagalit kahit nagkakamali kami sa eksena.”
“Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” starts airing tonight on GMA-7 after Ai Ai de las Alas and Vic Sotto’s sitcom, “Hay Bahay”.
