About Darna, we honestly believe a new movie about this local flying heroine will no longer that be enticing to most of today's millennial viewers who have been reared on super spectacular Superhero movies from DC and Marvel comics. So unless, those who'll make the new Darna can make it as visually stunning and mind-boggling in terms of its CGI special effects as their Hollywood counterparts, a new version of Darna will not be as appealing anymore to today's audiences.
The issue about who'll be playing the new Darna is also of utmost significance. We all know that when a new Dyesebel version (another much revived creation of the late Mars Ravelo) was made starring Anne Curtis, the results in the ratings game was not that satisfactory, so it didn't truly prosper and was quite short-lived on the air.
To begin with, most of those who played Darna before were in their late teens or early 20s when they made it, unlike Anne who was already in her late 20s when she did it. We believe this is the reason why ABS-CBN didn't give the role of Darna to Angel Locsin anymore, as she's already in her early 30s.
There were many female stars nominated to play the role, but like what we've written before, Liza Soberano seems to be the best and likeliest choice as the others don't even come close to her in terms of her beauty and appeal. And at 19, she's just at the right age to play the iconic superhero role.
