Derrick Monasterio Honored To Play The New Sugo Of The Mulawin Tribe In GMA-7's Big-Budgeted Telefantasya, 'Mulawin Vs. Ravena'

DERRICK MONASTERIO is happy to play his biggest role on primetime in “Mulawin vs. Ravena” as Almiro, the new Sugo of the Mulawin tribe of bird people. “Noong araw, kinakanta ko lang yung theme song ng ‘Mulawin’, ‘Ikaw Nga’ ng South Border, when I join singing contests,” he says. “Hindi ko akalain na sa bagong version pala nito, I will be playing a major big role. I'm so happy to be a part of this show na ang laki ng cast at ang laki ng budget. Sa costumes pa lang namin, magastos na talaga.”

He had to physically prepare for the role. “Kasi naka-harness ako sa flying scenes. Hindi biro yung lumilipad-lipad ka while you’re wearing your costume.”

But didn’t he play a superhero in his recent show, “Tsuperhero”? “Yes, pero hindi ako pinapakitang lumilipad doon, e. I just pop in and pop out kapag may kailangan akong tulungan, unlike dito, kailangang lumilipad ka talaga with your wings.”

If he would be a bird, what would he choose to be? “I’d like to be a vulture. Mabangis. Malaki. Matapang.”

Looks like that GMA is really giving their love team a big push. “Nakita kasi nilang nag-click kami sa ‘Hanggang Makita Kang Muli’ and ‘Tsuperhero’, kaya tinuloy-tuloy na ang love team. Okay lang naman kasi we really get along fine at comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa. We hope the viewers continue to support our tandem now we’re now on primetime.”
