KRIS BERNAL was presented by GMA-7 in a solo presscon for her birthday on May 17 and the advanced promo of her new soap, “Impostora”, that will start airing on June 12. She gave writers who came to the presscon copies of FHM Magazine’s May issue where she’s the cover girl. What made her decide to finally pose sexy for FHM?
“28 naman na ako sa birthday ko and I can’t forever be pa-tweetums,” she says. “Eight years ago pa ako nililigawan ng FHM to pose for them, pero laging ayaw ng parents ko at masyado pa raw akong bata. A few months ago, nag-post ako ng pictures ko on social media na naka-swimsuit, so they offered me again and I asked my parents and GMA Artist Center. They said I’m of the right age, more mature na, and this is the right time, so pumayag na sila. But sila ang may final say sa lahat ng photos na ilalabas sa magazine. I only had one week to prepare for the pictorial so nag-crash diet ako at sabi ng ibang tao, masyado akong payat, so na-bash ako. E, ganito talaga ang frame ko. 5’1” lang ako, ang ideal weight ko is 100 lbs at l05 nga ako ngayon so hindi ako underweight at all. Yung ibang bashers, they mean well, so okay lang. Pero yung iba, alam mo namang nang-iinis lang so dedma na lang ako sa kanila. This is my own life and I don’t want to be pressured or controlled by the standards of others. I am now more confident with myself and I’d rather do things on my own terms as an expression of who I really am.”
So does this mean she’ll now go sexy? “Puede, kasi nga, I’m not getting any younger. Career move na rin yan. I have sexy scenes in ‘Impostora’, the sexiest I’ve done so far.”How different is her version compared to the original “Impostora”? “Unang-una, sa original, dalawa sila, Iza Calzado and Sunshine Dizon. Dito sa’min, isa lang ako and I play both roles of Nympha and Rosette. Yung isa, si Nympha pinapangit ako. Nilalagyan ako ng prosthetic make up na two hours ilagay at two hours din para tanggalin. Pero mas mahirap for me yung role ni Rosette kasi mayaman siya, elegant, sophisticated, nananakit ng ibang tao. E nasanay ako sa roles kong mahirap at api-apihan lagi. Very demanding ang role ko kasi both bida and contrabida, ako ang gumaganap.
Madalas nga, sarili ko lang ang kausap ko, so matagal gawin. May scenes na inaabot kami ng oras tapusin kasi nga paiba-iba ako ng character and it takes time to prepare. And I made sure na magkaiba talaga ang dalawa, different mannerisms, different ways of walking, different nuances. I’m so happy na puro magagaling ang mga kasama ko rito, sina Rafael Rosell, Ryan Eigenmann, Elizabeth Oropesa, Assunta de Rossi, Vaness del Moral, Aicelle Santos and Sinon Loresca, directed by Albert Langitan.”
She says she herself is loveless now. “Ayoko na ng short term relationships kaya hindi na lang ako nage-entertain. Gusto ko yung pangmatagalan na as I’m not getting any younger. I prefer someone na di taga-showbiz. Kasi kung pareho kayong nagre-rely sa pag-aartista, what will happen kapag nawala na yung career namin? Lalo na ako, hindi naman ako college graduate. So I prefer someone more stable at tutulong na makapagpaangat sa akin.”
