MIGUEL ‘MIGZ’ HALECO was first seen as a contestant in “Talentadong Pinoy” then conquered the music scene as an internet sensation with his youtube videos that got more than a million hits. Born on September 9, 1994 at Dasmarinas, Cavite, he’s a good looking six footer whose favorite singers are John Mayer, Eric Clapton and Bruno Mars among foreign singers, and Bamboo and Yeng Constantino among local ones.
He started performing as a student at Benedictine in Imus joining school events, then PPL Entertainment of Perry Lansigan signed him up and he formed a duet with Maya. They made an album with Star Music and did several shows together.
But he is now going solo. He also writes his own songs, like “Lihim”, “Coming Home” and “Smile Beautiful” and he’s now cutting his own album with Star Music. It will include 5 of his originals songs, plus some cover versions. He was relaunched by PPL Entertainment along with a new band, Agsunta, right after they had their contract signing with Star Music. How come he separated from Maya after they did many shows as a duo for two years? “Pinagsama lang kami ng manager naming si Perry Lansigan para makilala but even then, he planned na pagsolohin din kami eventually,” he says.
Someone quips that they had to go separate ways because Maya’s current BF, actor Geoff Eigenmann, is getting jealous of him. How true? “Ewan ko, pero mas mabuti na nga sigurong solo-solo na kami para maiwasan yung mga ganyan.”How about his own girlfriend? Is she also getting jealous? “Wala akong girlfriend. The last one was three years ago pa. I’m now focused sa career ko lang. Lalo ngayon, I’m making my first solo album.”
