DERRICK MONASTERIO turned 22 on August 1 and instead of having a party, he chose to spend it feeding the grade school children of San Jose del Monte Elementary School. “As a National Youth Commission Ambassador, I felt mas magiging magaganda kung magpakain na lang ako sa mga bata and natuwa naman ako kasi ang saya-saya nila, kasama ang teachers nila,” he says. “Andaming kong natatanggap na blessings so dapat lang I should share it with others.”
Last weekend, he went to Davao with Miguel Tanfelix, his co-star in “Mulawin Vs. Ravena”, to participate in the annual Kadayawan Festival. Their show at the Gaisano Mall in Toril was well attended with all their fans shouting their names in “Mulawin Vs. Ravena”, Almiro and Pagaspas. The fans are also aware that love is blooming between him as Almiro and Bea Binene as Anya. “Lahat sila, hinahanap sa akin si Bea,” he beams. “Sabi ko, hindi nakaalis ng Avila. Hindi nabigyan ng visa.”
Meantime, Miguel as Pagaspas and Bianca Umali as Lawiswis have joined the world of ordinary people. “Hinahanap din sa akin ng mga tao si Bianca,” says Miguel. “Tinatanong kung kailan kami uli magkaka-kissing scene. Nakakatuwang malamang napakarami talaga nilang nanonood ng ‘Mulawin Vs. Ravena’ regularly at alam nila ang latest ng mga pangyayari sa show. We just want to remind our regular viewers na mapapanood na po kami after ‘Alyas Robin Hood’ starting this Monday night.”
