ASIDE FROM the directors, IdeaFirst company is now also managing stars. Christian Bables is the most well known among them as he has won the Metro Filmfest and Urian best supporting actor awards for their movie, “Die Beautiful”, which will now have its sequel as a TV series, “Born Beautiful”, with Christian reprising his role as Barbie. Christian already has a manager but why did he choose Perci and Jun to co-manage him? “Malaki po utang na loob ko sa kanila,” he says. “Sila ang nagbigay ng first big break ko in ‘I Love You to Death’ as Kiray’s gay best friend. Dahil dun, napansin ako and then they got me in ‘Die Beautiful’. Kundi dahil sa kanila, wala ako rito ngayon. Sa dating nag-manage sa’kin, hindi mapalagay ang kaluluwa ko, pero ngayon sobrang comfortable na ko kina Kuya Perci at Kuya Jun. Sila ang unang nagtiwala sa akin and they already know what I am capable of.”
Christian has two new movies with Director Chito Rono, “The Ghost Bride” where he supports Matteo Guidicelli and “Signal Rock” where he plays the lead role of a Samar boy and was required to do some nudity in a love scene.
“Puwet ko lang naman po ang nakita kasi nag-do kami nung girlfriend ko,” he says.
What if he’d be required to go full frontal? “I’d do it, basta kailangan talaga. That’s how much I love my craft. Umaapaw ang passion ko, so basta normal na nangyayari sa totoong buhay ang eksena, I’d do it.”
Adrianna So is the former Malak So Shdifat of TV5's Artista Academy. “I chose IdeaFirst kasi si Sir Perci ang una kong nakasama sa TV kaya kilala ko na siya. I now change my name kasi, five years ago pa, gusto ko na talaga siyang palitan dahil walang makatanda ng pangalan ko. I’m remembered as the girl with a difficult name.”
She played many villain roles in TV5 soaps, but now, she plays the lead in a new TV series of IdeaFirst, “The Orbiters”, as the lone girl on whom all the other male characters will make an orbit, directed by Miko Livelo. One of her leading men in CedricK Juan, who had two entries in Cinemalaya last year: “Die Beautiful” where he was one of Paolo Ballesteros’ gay friends and “Oro” where he plays a villainous henchman who oppresses miners in Bicol.
“Suwerte nga po yun kasi ang very first two movies na ginawa ko, parehong napasali sa festival and I got nominated pa as best supporting actor,” he says.
Cedrick started his acting career on stage with the FEU Art Theatre then did plays with Dulaang UP, where Eugene Domingo and JC Santos also started. He then branched out to TV commercials and first did a short film for QCinema, “Viva Viva Escolta”, before doing full length films. He didn’t have a manager before so when Perci and Jun offered to handle him, he was overjoyed.
“I’m very serious with my craft as an actor and with good directors like them managing me, I really felt overwhelmed and I know I am now in very good hands.”
