This will not be objectionable if JLC had the same reputation as his "Tabing Ilog" contemporary who’s also done a lot of controversial things, Baron Geisler. But JLC is an A-lister, an award-winning and respectable actor. There are occasional reports about him having a drinking problem but he is still admired by a lot of people, both young and old.
But what he’s doing now is worse than anything he has done before. Someone says that he seems to be bent on trekking the road to self-destruction, demolishing whatever gains and respectability he has earned for himself before in his long career that started when he was still a teenager.
And it seems JLC is really doing it on purpose. As they say in Tagalog, nananadya. Because a lot of people already lambasted him but he did more undesirable things to taunt them. Maybe he should just tie the knot with Ellen so they can fully enjoy each other’s company to the max. Then they can do whatever they want us a couple and just turn a deaf ear to all those who bash them. Who knows? They might even live happily never after. And as the saying goes: “Laging nasa huli ang pagsisisi!”
