She was tagged as the Miss Wacky Go Lucky of Cagayan de Oro because of her happy disposition that makes people laugh easily. She’s a diehard fan of Kapamilya stars and her hysterical reactions as a fan girl when some stars visited the PBB house gave her the title National Fangirl. During her stay in PBB, she became good friends with Kisses Delavin and Edward Barber.
Now, the three of them are all movie stars themselves as Star Cinema is launching them in the movie “Loving in Tandem”. Maymay is paired with Edward (they’re known as the MayWard love team) while Kisses is paired with Marco Gallo, another PBB find. The movie is the directorial debut of Giselle Andres, who has worked as assistant director to Rory Quintos and Olive Lamasan. So how is it shooting their first movie?“Mahirap po,” says Maymay. “Mga baguhan pa kami kaya nahirapan kami talaga, pero with the guidance of Direk Giselle, confident akong nagawa namin nang tama ang trabaho namin. Ginagawa namin kung ano ang gusto niya. Kalmado lang siya sa set, e. Hindi naninigaw at kung may mali kami, kinakausap niya kami nang maayos to tell us what's wrong sa trabaho namin.”
What are the qualities of Edward that she likes and doesn’t like? “He’s very caring. Pareho kaming baguhan so we always remind ourselves to just give our best in every scene. I like it also na sinasabayan niya ang mga kabaliwan ko. Since PBB days namin, mas nakilala ko siya. We opened up to each other. About qualities I don’t like, wala, e, kasi we’re all not perfect naman. Ang maganda, nasasabi namin sa isa’t isa kung may hindi kami gusto. Sa culture kasi nila, very frank sila, so prankahan kami. Nasasabi ko sa kanya: ang baho ng bibig mo, mag-toothbrush ka nga.”In “Loving in Tandem”, Maymay plays Shine, a simple girl who’s accosted by a robber in a dark alley. Along comes her Prince Charming, Edward as Luke, a balikbayan who saves her from the bad guy. Does she believe their love team is popular enough to carry a movie? “Sa tulong po ng buong production team, ni Direk Giselle at lahat ng co-stars namin, I think madadala naman namin ang movie dahil tiyak na masisiyahan lahat ng manonood nito when it opens in theaters on September 13.”
