JANINE GUTIERREZ finally renewed her contract with GMA Network after much speculation that she will move elsewhere when she attended the Star Magic Ball with rumored BF Rayver Cruz and then she decided to be under the management team of Leo Dominguez who brought Paulo Avelino and JC De Vera to ABS-CBN.
“That time, nag-expire na ang contract ko with GMA at nine-negotiate pa ni Tito Leo,” says Janine. “Hindi naman ako basta aalis as a Kapuso kasi malaki ang utang na loob ko sa GMA. Sila ang nag-build up sa akin and they gave me good projects, last nga yung ‘Legally Blind’ which did very well. So finally, natapos na ang negotiation, I renewed my exclusive contract, we’re very satisfied, and I remain to be a Kapuso and I’m happy that GMA remains to be my second family, my home.”
Present at the contract signing were GMA Senior VP for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable and Gigi Santiago Lara of the GMA Artist Center. After the contract signing, they met right away for Janine’s next project with GMA. There’s a rumor that Rayver is now about to move to GMA to be with her. How true is this? “Honestly, wala po akong alam diyan. And if ever it’s true that he has decided to be a Kapuso, I don’t think na dahil lang yun sa akin.”
Janine is true showbiz royalty as her parents are both from showbiz. He dad Ramon Christopher is the son of Eddie Gutierrez and Pilita Corrales, while her mom Lotlot de Leon was raised by Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon. So now that her contract has just been renewed, who would she like to work with among Kapuso actors? “Kung puede sana, si Dennis Trillo, o si Tom Rodriguez. Actually, marami pa akong gustong makatrabaho. Given the chance, I’d also like to work with my grandma, Nora Aunor. Sana magkasama kami sa isang movie. Nag-guest na kami sa isang TV show so sana maulit yun. I’d also like to work with my Lolo Eddie Gutierrez. I know I’d learn a lot from the experience of working with them. As for my Mamita Pilita Corrales, she’s more on singing and I will be guesting in her show sa isang big hotel next month.”
Janine is busy right now promoting her new movie, Octoarts Films’ horror-drama, “Spirit of the Glass 2, The Haunted”. She plays a mysterious role as Sabrina, an actress who suddenly died and the real cause of her death remains a secret, until a portal opens up that lets her spirit return from the dead to seek justice for what happened to her. Her leading men in the movie are Dominic Roque and Arron Villaflor, with Cristine Reyes, Maxine Medina and Ashley Ortega as the three young women from the present who unwittingly opened the portal for her so she can haunt the people who tormented her before.
“'Spirit of the Glass 2' opens on November 1st, All Saints Day,” adds Janine. “I promise mapapasigaw kayo sa takot. I’m also taping a new series, ‘Unbroken Hearts’, Cherie Gil, Assunta de Rossi, Martin del Rosario. I recorded its theme song in the States with famous record producer Red One and I’m really excited as the song will be released here soon as a single.”
Truly, the future looks bright for Janine now that she has just renewed her contract with GMA-7. “Marami kaming magagandang plans para sa kanya,” GMA exec Lilybeth Rasonable assures her.
