Miss World Philippines For Eco-Tourism Cynthia Thomalla Is A Lookalike Of Anne Hathaway & Is Surely 'Mukhang Artista'

CYNTHIA THOMALLA won the Miss Eco Tourism title in the recent Miss World Philippines Pageant. She, along with the other winners, just signed a movie contract with Regal, which is part of the prizes they’ve won. Of all of them, most movie writers present at the affair believe it’s Cynthia who is the most “mukhang artista” because she has such a pretty face. In some angles, she looks like Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway.

Cynthia first won the Reyna ng Aliwan title last year, representing Cebu’s Sinulog Festival. She’s 22 years old and was born in Hamburg, Germany, the youngest of five kids. Her mom, whose family name is Magpatoc, is from Macrohon, Southern Leyte. When she was 9 years old, her parents decided to leave Hamburg and move to Leyte with her older brother.

“My three older sisters decided to stay in Germany and they now have their own careers there,” she says. “When we came here, I only speak German. But now, I speak English, Tagalog and Bisaya."

She has a tourism degree from the University of Cebu and Megan Young is her idol so she really wanted to join Miss World as she likes its Beauty with a Purpose advocacy. Is she sad that she didn’t win the Miss World Philippines titles but is instead assigned to join the Miss Eco International title in Egypt in April 2018? She also won the awards for Miss Photogenic, Best in Evening Gown, Best Smile and Miss Bluewater Day Spa.

“No, I think the judges know best which candidate ang siyang pinakabagay for the four titles during coronation night,” she says. “I’m happy to represent our country in Egypt kasi ilang beses na tayong nagpadala roon ng candidate, pero wala pang nananalo so far. Miss Eco International advocates tourism and environmental care. Whoever wins the crown will be a champion for eco-tourism worldwide as well as instill values about the safety and protection of the planet and its resources. This is done through an exchange of culture in an international level as a way of spreading tourism and environmental awareness, so I’d love to be Miss Eco International.”

She also answered well in the Q&A portion. When asked what is the most important social issue facing today’s generation, this is her reply: “The most important social issue the youth is facing today is social media. A lot of people are using social media irresponsibly and this is causing a lot of conflict and misunderstanding. So I encourage everyone to use social media to help spread love and understanding, goodwill and respect. Be mindful of what you post and think before you click.”
