IT’S ALL SAINTS DAY. When we were young, the priority is to say a prayer for the repose of our dear departed loved ones. We even did the 9-day novena for the dead with our aunts. Then we go to their resting places on November 1st and spend the whole day as some sort of a family reunion with our other relatives.
We usually exchange ghost stories with our cousins. And we love watching films about haunted places and restless souls who won’t stay dead, not those movies about demonic possession or zombies or killers that belong to slasher flicks. The best ghost stories for us remain to be “The Uninvited”, “The Innocents”, “The Others”, “The Haunting” (the original, not the remake), most of which are atmospheric and stylish crafted, not relying on cheap jolting boo moments aided by camera tricks, loud music and jarring sounds.
But now, the priority is buying costumes for your children so they can join trick or treat. Times have really changed.
