Marian’s presence was personally requested by the Cambodian prime minister since Marian is very popular in the land of Angkor Wat. When we went to Siem Reap the other year, cab drivers would ask us when they find out we’re Pinoys: “Do you know Marian Rivera is popular here because of ‘Marimar’ and ‘Dyesebel’?” Right now, we heard her last drama, “Carmela”, is being shown there.
“I was surprised when I got an invitation,” says Marian. “Hindi naman ako sanay kaya nahihiya akong magpunta, pero ni-request daw ng Cambodian prime minister so nakakatuwa naman at isang karangalan na makaharap sila. Parang pasasalamat na ring tinatangkilik sa Cambodia ang shows ng GMA-7. Nagkataon namang wala kaming taping, kaya kami naka-attend kasama ang daughter naming si Zia.”
We’re sure all the foreign dignitaries who attended the dinner affair were wed by Marian’s beauty. We
won’t be surprised if other ASEAN member nations would now also request that her shows be telecast also in their respective countries. And we’re sure that after “Carmela”, since Marian now has a regular following in Cambodia, they would next request that her show that is currently airing right now, “Super Ma’am”, will also be shown their later.
